The program offers a comprehensive exploration of various domains within game development and robotics technology. It covers mobile game app creation using MIT App Inventor, introducing students to 2D level design and artistic creation, 3D modeling skills through Blender, understanding animation principles, implementing AI in gaming experiences, and AI in robotics exploring the realms of Extended Reality (XR). Additionally, the program includes a segment on Playful Robotics, engaging participants in hands-on experiences with LEGO kits to infuse creativity and innovation into the field of robotics within a playful and experimental framework. Each topic is carefully curated to provide a well-rounded understanding of contemporary technologies and concepts within the realm of game development.
Track History:
RoboGames track introduces an extended edition of MobiSiTech+ and AR Games Developer tracks that were offered from 2020 to 2023 and reflected a huge success. RoboGames track introduces mobile game apps, Artificial Intelligent in games, unity games for 2d and 3d environments, 3d modeling, Games Design and Art making as well as animation and Playful Robotics development with special focus on Extended Reality (XR) in Game development in an interactive manner designed for all enthusiastic beginners and technology lovers. Students will be able to implement gaming applications that can serve in various real-life sectors (e.g., educational, business, entertainment, and gaming ...etc). Furthermore, they can see how mobile apps interact with robotics. Moreover, they will be able to dive into entertainment world and learn how can applications be designed to reflect an exciting gaming context and how developers can program robots. Throughout the program, students will be exposed to some technical workshops and will get the chance to meet many experts in the field.
Track Objectives:
The main purpose of this track is teaching high school students the basics of programming in a fun and interactive environment to encourage them to convert any idea into real world application and serve their community using trendy technologies. During the program, the students will be trained on using many development IDEs and will be learning many languages to build games and robotic programs as well as XR applications. It’s also designed to give a realistic overview of a Software Engineer student’s life. Moreover, the students get introduced to many discussions during the course to help sharpen their knowledge of the technology sector. To achieve the success factors expected of this program, the students will be encouraged to participate in many fun in-class activities to compete and learn necessary teamwork skills.
The playful robotics aspect of the RoboGames summer program offers an immersive and interactive experience with LEGO robotics, where participants delve into the creative and playful side of robotics. Through hands-on activities and engaging challenges, students explore the fundamentals of robotics in a dynamic and enjoyable environment. This segment encourages imaginative thinking and problem-solving skills by blending learning with fun, allowing participants to design and build robots using LEGO kits, fostering their interest and expertise in robotics in a playful, experimental setting.
The program allows students to gain free membership in Alfaisal’s game innovation lab to grow their passion in game innovation field by being part of future impactful projects that matches their interest. It also opens up the space for them to work on activities and meet with gaming communities and participate in global annual challenges like Game Jams and Gameathon (check figure 1), minigames exhibit and robotics challenges at Alfaisal during and after the program.
